McCleskey and Associates' legacy reaches back to 1968 when Sam McCleskey came to the Island to intern with Corkern Wiggins Lee and Lominack, an established architectural firm engaged in the early development of Hilton Head and other emerging coastal developments in the southeastern United States.
In 1973, he helped establish Lee, McCleskey, Miller Architects and served as it's Vice President until he left to form his own firm, McCleskey and Associates.
McCleskey and Associates was established in 1990 to provide quality Architectural Services and a focus on clients' needs through Experience, Creativity, and Commitment.
In the forty plus years he has lived and practiced architecture on Hilton Head, Mr.McCleskey has enjoyed the unique opportunity to participate in the formation of planning and architectural principals which were instrumental in the early development of Sea Pines Plantation and other developments on Hilton Head Island. These principals continue as models for quality development in many other areas around the country today.
As Hilton Head Island evolved from a small resort to a permanent community, Sam McCleskey's experience and reputation led to commissions to design of many of Hilton Head's Public and Civic Buildings, including Hilton Head High School, Hilton Head Elementary School, Hilton Head Middle School., two Post Offices, and The Hilton Head Library.
Today, the firm's body of work includes virtually all types of projects including custom homes, commercial offices and banks, community facilities, recreational projects, schools and college work, churches, dining and food service projects, and communications and utility company facilities..
